I love reading and have read a couple of books. I started reading after I read "The Da Vinci Code", I liked reading the book so much that I started reading other novels also and slowly started liking reading. I am currently reading a very good book "The Lost Symbol" penned down by Dan Brown. It was gifted to me by my friend.
It would be great fun to know what the other here people are reading and would also help you know about some other good books that you could enjoy reading.

CS1.6/CZ : How to install Plugins

This is a tutorial on how to install plugins on your server.

This is the method to do it on Counter-Strike 1.6 and Counter-Strike : Condition Zero, along with other Half-Life based games.

First thing you need to do is go to http://www.amxmodx.org/compiler.php and look for a plugin you want, make sure the plugin is for 1.6 or CZ.
If you are running a CZ Server, you can easily use any of the 1.6 plugins, therefore any CS Plugin you find can be used in Condition Zero (with the exception of Counter-Strike:Source, which is a game based on the Half-Life 2 Engine)

After you find your plugin make sure you download the .amxx file and the .sma file.

You will then need to open up your server panel, which can be located at
http://gs.eqhosting.com/Templates/Default/login.aspx

After that, go to File Manager and do the following:

Select czero, then select addons, then select amxmodx, then go to plugins.

After you have done that, on the top left you should click the icon that stands for file upload.

When you have done that a new window will pop up, where u will choose which file you want to upload from your computer, browse to the folder you put in the .amxx file and upload that file ONLY.

After you have done that click the little 3 dots "..." to go back to the amxmodx folder.

After you are put back in the amxmodx folder, choose scripting and then upload the .sma file. Then click on the little 3 dots "..." and after you have been put back in the amxmodx folder again go ahead and choose config.

If you are in the config folder now, make sure you find the plugins file (plugins.ini) and then click on the white select-field and then choose "Edit"

Now that you are editing the plugins.ini file, go ahead and scroll all the way down, there you should put down the name of the .amxx file.

So if I had a plugin that I downloaded, and the name of it was parachute.amxx I would put down parachute.amxx in the plugins file.

That's it.

Now restart your server and you're ready to go.

Hello all and welcome to my thread. Just figured i'd post a thank note to everyone at EQ-Hosting for all their great help. I wanted to say the service they provide is awesome they're very helpful and have been great too me. They do their best to make sure all of their customs are happy and enjoy all of their services, if you have services or plan on getting services. I would say to go with EQ-Hosting, myself i have 3 Counterstrike-cz servers and plan on getting more. If you already have services, and have problems with your providers try EQ-Hosting you'll find they're good people. So on that note just wanted to say Thanks.

How To Protect Your Game Server

Here are a few things that you can do and add to your game server to protect it from exploiters & hackers.

1) Do not give to anyone the RCON PASSWORD to your game server.

2) Never give out to anyone your game server FTP LOGIN NAME / FTP PASSWORD.

3) Never enable SV_CHEATS 1 in your game server change it to 0.

4) Add to your server.cfg file rcon authentication fail ban penalty. Copy & paste into your server.cfg file then make the necessary changes to your linkings.

sv_rcon_maxfailures 10 --- Number of times a player can retry to enter a password 1 - 20 max before being banned.
sv_rcon_minfailures 5 --- Number of times a player can retry to enter a password 1 - 20 max before being banned.
sv_rcon_minfailuretime 30 --- Number of seconds that a player has to wait until entering a password again 1 second - 60 minutes max.
5) If you're using sourcemod you can add a plugin called "Forlix FloodCheck" to protect your game server from chat spam & command flood.

There's another plugin for sourcemod admin mod that you can add called "Command Blocker" you can block players from using commands you specify in the server.cfg file.

6) If you're using mattie eventscripts there's quite a few addons that use can use to protect your game server.

Miauw Mzx's Anti-Exploits -- It blocks players from doing command exploits.

HackThis -- This plugin blocks unconnected player names, protect rcon and channel overflow exploit.

Exploit Coverup -- This plugin block players from known commands to crash your server.

IronWall -- Protects your game server from exploiters & hackers.

Rcon LOCK -- Locks players from unloading the plugin and stops players changing your rcon password.

Block crash -- Addon to stop players from using the reliable channel overflow exploit.

Anti-cheat -- Addon to ban/kick players that use the unconnected exploit or sv_cheat 1

7) Do not add too many plugins or mods to your game server. If one of the plugins or mods has an exploit how will you know which one is? you may have to disable / enable all plugins & mods to know which one is the one with the exploit.

8) Do not give to anyone the Login Name / Password to your game server providers control panel.

9) Scan your computer regularly for viruses, key loggers, spyware... not only to protect your rcon login / password but also to protect your steam account from being stolen / hijacked.

10) Let me know what #10 is? If you know of a way to protect your game server and is not listed here share it with us.

Adding Admins with Sourcemod

If you choose to use sourcemod for your admin needs, you'll find that it is very easy to add admins to your server.

On the server, open cstrike/addons/sourcemod/configs/admins_simple.ini

In a new line, add the following, replacing yoursteamid (use your client's console status command to retrieve your steamid - formatted as STEAM_n:o)

"yoursteamid" "99:z"

Save

Restart Server

Connect to Server with Client

Enter sm_admin into console, and return to game. You should see admin menu.

This is by far the easiest way to add admins to your server using Sourcemod. For more advanced addition to the admins list of your server, please refer to this mods' website to find further information.

Adding admins with AMXMODX to your server.

This depends on what game mod you are running (i.e. Counter-Strike 1.6, Condition Zero, ect...)

1. AMXMODX has a file called user.ini in the configs folder. To get to it you can use either your FTP program or the TCAdmin site.

a. Using FTP:

Navigate to the user.ini file located by going threw your server folders:
/your IP port 27015/game mod/addons/amxmodx/configs/

Look for the user.ini file and download it to your desktop or something as long as you know were it is.

Open it with notepad, or wordpad. It will look like this:

Here is were you would add yourself or others as admin.

Depending on what type of admins you want, depends on the access flags you allow.

When you are done save the file and upload it from were it came.

Then you may either restart your server, or wait until the map changes.

b. Using TCAdmin site:

Log into your TCAdmin account.

Click on the "game servers" icon.

Click on the "file manager" icon.

Click on what game mod you have (i.e. czero, cstrike, ect...)

Click on the addons folder.

Click on the amxmodx folder.

Click on the configs folder.

Find the user.ini file.

Click the drop down window and select edit.

When it opens, add your admins as stated above in the quote box.

Save it and restart your server or wait for the map to change.
